Natasha Schaffer, RYT 500 E-RYT

Certified Yoga Meets Dance (™) Facilitator

Yoga found Natasha in 1999 at a dance studio. When teacher instructed dancers to breathe through a 3 minute “yoga moment” in standing leg lift, something shifted. The leg didn’t fall off (strangely), but something else left her system with that sweat. And what remained felt so good and whole, that Natasha set out to find “yoga moments” in everything she did.

She became a certified Yoga Meets Dance (™) Facilitator in 2007, leading wild and fun dance journeys. In 2010 she trained with Jonny Kest, whose dynamic teaching style was most engaging and dance-like and had taught at Center for Yoga for 3 years.

Called to look deeper into the heart of yoga tradition, Natasha continued to study many “flavors” of yoga and dance with many great teachers – David Williams, Mark Whitewell, Tias Little, Gabrielle Roth, Rod Stryker. She has completed her  500  hour Yoga Therapy Certification with Rod Stryker, founder of Parayoga. Rooted in the oldest known system of knowledge – Tantra – this comprehensive approach to yoga weaves breath, movement, philosophy, science, and meditation into every practice. In her yoga classes Natasha strives to deliver complete yoga experience to students of all levels. And… she is still dancing. “Life is a Dancer, You are the Dance” ~ E. Tolle

Yoga connects mind, breath and body.  Yoga brings out the kid in all of us, through movement and having fun on our mat.  Approaching life with a smile on your face makes everything a little more fun; coming to your yoga practice should be no different!  Bring joy to your life…come to yoga!
I have always been active…running, playing sports, mountain bike riding and just having fun and loving life.  I thought yoga was a “stretching” class…but after my first vinyasa class, I quickly realized that yoga is so much more and I was hooked.  Connecting my movement, breath and celebrating life as I flow through different asana makes me happy.  I like to push myself to find my edge at every class, but also find myself laughing along the way, enjoying the journey I have created both on and off the mat.
I have always been drawn to the structure of Ashtanga, but am trained in several class styles.  I have taught in a studio atmosphere since completing my YTT in 2015.  For the past 2 years I have been teaching yoga in the corporate world as well, providing my students techniques to manage through stressful situations when on the job through breath and gentle movement.
Alex Ptak, RYT

Alex is a registered yoga teacher, boot camp instructor and avid nutritional junkie.  His interest in yoga began 10 years ago, when he would attend his mom’s classes.  A deep interest in body building, nutrition and wellness developed over the past 4 years and Alex chose to expand his knowledge by participating in yoga teacher training at Balance.   He realized less tension and tightness in his muscles, improved strength and flexibility, which was proof enough that yoga works!

My yoga practice began as a compliment to my meditation practice back in 2008. I found the balance of yoga and meditation brought a calmness and clarity to my life that allowed me to cope with the many stressors I was dealing with. I received my RYT 200 Yoga Instructor Certification through the Beaumont School of Yoga Therapy in June 2016 with the goal of helping others find peace and healing among chaotic lives. When I’m not teaching yoga, or at my desk job, I’m spending time with my brand new baby boy! The experience of motherhood has taught me to view and use the tools in my Yogi Toolbox in so many new ways – always changing and learning as I practice maintaining balance and peace on and off the mat.

Tricia Ptak, MA, LPC, E-RYT

Is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in individual, couples and yoga, yoga therapy, and maintains a private practice in Plymouth, MI.

With over 21 years experience as a mental health therapist, yoga teacher, wife, mother and business owner,  Tricia brings a wealth of experience and empathic understanding to the session.  Tricia is a graduate of Michigan State University, and worked at The University of Michigan Health Systems.  Tricia specializes in client centered therapy, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are anxiety, low self esteem, parenting, depression and communication skill training.

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist,  Tricia is a published writer, often touching on the human effect of yoga and our relationships with ourselves and others.

Tricia is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Leading yoga classes since 2007, to populations ranging from athletes to seniors with joint replacements, Tricia brings a joyous and invigorating experience that is coupled with calmness and tranquility. In 2008 she completed her 200 RYT with Jonny Kest,   and completed the program two additional times as a graduate assistant. Tricia is currently pursuing 500 Yoga Therapy Certification with Rod Stryker, founder of Parayoga.   Tricia is inspired by the many teachers that have shared their wisdom with her at training’s, classes and workshops, including: Rod Stryker, Shiva Rae, Marc Whitewell, Dr. Indu Aurora, Seane Corn, David Williams, Beryl Bender Birch, Doug Swenson, Shakta Kaur, Jonny Kest, Raina Nemeth, Rebecca Roman, Claudia Viduardi, Corrinne Messelyn, Colleen Kennedy, Natasha Schaffer and more.
